Interviewing and Disclosure after Incarceration and/or Justice-Involvement

December 28, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us for a virtual workshop on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, 1 – 2 PM

Do you have a previous felony and/or a misdemeanor conviction? Do you want to know how to discuss previous justice involvement when you’re called in for an interview?

This webinar will address interviewing strategies that are critical to know for people with previous felony and/or misdemeanor convictions. While everyone’s situation will be different, there are some common guidelines. We will review the following topics in this workshop:
•Common interview questions around legal history and how to prepare for them
•What is lawful and unlawful for an interviewer to ask
•Why disclose legal history in the interview
•How does the “Fair Chance Act” impact disclosure
•The importance of obtaining a Record of Arrest and Prosecution (RAP) sheet

For participants with disabilities, if you require any reasonable accommodations to participate in the event, please notify The Division of Employment and Workforce Solution’s Human Resource Development Office at least 72 hours prior to the event at EmploymentAndWorkforceNews.wdtd@labor.ny.gov. The Division of Employment and Workforce Solutions Human Resource Development Office will make every reasonable effort to secure an accommodation that will meet your needs.
