Veteran Services Information

You served your Country well, now let us serve you!  As a veteran, you receive priority service in all New York State Career Centers.  We have Veteran’s Employment Representatives, who are veterans themselves, specifically trained to assist you in transitioning from the military, finding a new job, or starting a new career!  Some of the services we provide include:

Who is eligible?

      • Any Saratoga, Warren or Washington County residents aged 14 and older

When does PUSH training begin and end?

      • Training is happening now and open enrollment is ongoing
      • 19 hours online and 4 hours in person

The workforce development board and system will help you get your new career started today. We offer multiple services that can be tailored to meet your specific needs.

Training & Education Information

Have you thought about going back to school to start a new career?  Please come in and talk with one of our Career Counselors to discuss a new career path today.  Funds may be available to individuals for classroom/occupational skills training, or On-the-Job Training.  To receive funding the training you take must be completed in two years or less and can take place at traditional colleges or vocational schools.  Areas of study include, but are not limited to Licensed Practical Nursing, Medical Transcription, Medical and Dental Assisting, Security Guard Training, CDL-A Truck Driving, Computer Applications and Computer Networking. For further information on in demand occupations in your region please click here.

On-the-Job Training

A program that places individuals with local employers where they receive training while earning a paycheck. We are currently looking for businesses who would like to be considered as a worksite as funds become available. Participating employers are eligible for up to 50% reimbursement for wages paid to a trainee during the training period. Self-paced on-line learning program which is offered through New York Wired. The Metrix E-learning catalog contains over 4400 courses including 400 Medcom healthcare training courses and over 4000 Skill-soft training courses that include software applications, business and finance, ITskills and industrial areas. The Metrix system also includes an assessment component called Prove-It which validates skill mastery in over 900 areas. Please also be sure to talk with your Local Career Center about this exciting opportunity.

Need help with Reading, Writing or Computer Skills?  Saratoga Springs Public Library and Southern Adirondack Independent Living offer a variety of classes for free.  Adult Education programs offered through the local WSWHE BOCES can assist with basic skills needs, TASC preparation or English as a Second Language (ESL). Your local Literacy New York Greater Capital Region provides assistance in basic reading, TASC help and ESL. TASC Preparation Programs are available to prepare you for the five test areas of Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics.
